From my Hart: Christmas Decor

Y’all! I’ve been waiting my entire life to decorate my very own home for Christmas. As I’ve mentioned before, our realtor was always sure to comment on two things: which wall did you want to knock down & where are you putting the Christmas Tree?

I’ve had such fond memories of trinkets passed down, Christmas decor & items that have gone to pass over the years; like the mechanical and musical Mr. & Mrs. Clause my grandparents had. As you may imagine, I’ve been stashing away a lot of Christmas decorations over the years. There is a lot I’ve not included in this post and a lot of items we didn’t even put out!

I am so excited to bring to you a compilation of how my fiance and I have decorated our home for our first Christmas! To kick things off- here’s a picture of my supportive fiance and I decorating 🙂

From my Hart: Our First Thanksgiving

Hello all! I’m sorry to be coming to y’all on Small Business Saturday instead of Black Friday but I’ve had so many wonderful things going on, this is the first time I’ve gotten to sit and relax.

On Thanksgiving we hosted my and my fiancé’s immediate families. It was a wonderful time!! We all mixed, mingled & enjoy delicious food together!

With a bit of rearranging, we were able to extend our dinning room table to fit everyone! We leaned on our families to help bring side dishes & cooked the big bird!

I got some wonderful table setting items from Walmart & Amazon, a new tablecloth from HomeGoods & the table was set!

I made my go-to appetizer: bre with caramel topping served with ginger snaps. We got Wegmans mashed potatoes because they are a top favorite in our family, and also served mac’n’cheese, brussels sprouts & rolls.

We had the most wonderful time with everyone & think we’ll be making this our tradition for the years to come!

From my Hart: Thanksgiving Prep

Hey y’all! Can you believe that this time next week, Thanksgiving will have come and gone and it will be Black Friday?

I personally, cannot wait so that I can deck our halls. In every house we looked into purchasing, my realtor was sure to comment on two things: “Okay which wall do you want to tear down & where are you putting your Christmas tree?”

Since I was little, I have always envisioned myself decorating my own home for Christmas- so this truly is a dream come true. My fiance and I stood outside on Halloween night and planned out how we would add wreaths and lights to our home. But I digress- that will be another post 😉

We, in the sweet exhaustion of moving, decided to host Thanksgiving! I wanted to quickly share with y’all some tools that I’ve been using to help keep ourselves from going insane.

I must have been somewhat in my right mind when agreeing to host Thanksgiving because I told my fiance I was on board- so long as we delegated. I have been using this lovely sheet to help me keep things organized! We are going to prepare the Turkey, drinks, table setting, etc. and have asked others to fill in the gaps! This really has helped alleviate the stress.

Tip #2: Stay Organized

I’ve also printed off a guest list tracker & a timeline to help. I tend to get up in my head and panic, and these help me see exactly what needs to be done when, and for exactly how many people.

You can find them here, and I keep everything in a nice folder right in our kitchen so we can access it easily!

Fun Things:

We got an adorable table setting, complete with a fresh new tablecloth from HomeGoods! I’ve kept our fall decor out & my fiance ordered us a fresh bird from the butcher around the corner. I cannot wait to show you all next week how it all turned out, but hope these items help you stay calm and collected during Thanksgiving! Remember, it’s all about being present, not perfect, and enjoying time with those you love.

Happy Thanksgiving Y’all!

From my Hart: Venue & Home Updates

Happy Friday once again everyone! Today I come to you with news that has been brewing since we got back from our blissful engagement in August. Today’s blog post is two fold & I’m so excited to share the news!

We bought a house!

After over a year of searching, we finally settle on our first home next week! It was nothing short of a blessing that we put an offer in that was accepted, on my cousins first heavily birthday. We’ve lost count of all the homes in which our offers were declined, never looked at, or that we lost before we could get our offer in.

I certainly never would have picked two weeks after our engagement for our home buying process to kick in, but I’ve taken it in stride as best as I can, knowing God would never give us more than we could handle. The saying is true: God’s timing, not mine.

So here we are! After a month of paperwork, phone calls, excitement, stress & all of the above, we are just four days from settlement. We are humbled and completely blown away by the amount of blessings coming our way. Our realtor / mortgage and insurance team are incredible and have made things so simple! Our families & friends are going above and beyond too & we cannot thank you all enough!

In other exciting news: we picked a venue!

We will officially be getting married in the summer of 2019 and I so look forward to sharing more home and wedding updates with you all! I’m sure there will be fun and serious posts to share; especially since we picked the venue that is closest to our families, but that has a cap on the number of guests we can invite.

With our exciting news out there- I am breathing a sigh of relief! I’m so excited to share with you guys these two huge milestones. I had planned on blogging next Friday, but I have decided to take next Friday off, both from work and blogging, so that I can clean, paint and move into our home!

I will be back on the 5th of October with more wonderful updates & insights! Thank you all for following along: let the adventures begin!

From my Hart: Engagement Party

Happy FriYay all! As promised, today’s blog post will be all about our engagement party!

My godmother threw us the most incredible engagement party so my, and my fiancés, immediate family could come together and meet! Let’s dive right into it!

For invitations, my Aunt used Paperless Post to send the most adorable electronic invitations & they were free!

There were balloons set in our wedding colors (navy, blush & gold) in bunches around the house. We had a photo wall that was 100% created thanks to HomeGoods. With $3 wedding wrapping paper & some photobooth props, the scene was set!

I had purchased a white Instax Mini 9, instant camera, from Walmart that I set out with the props and extra film. I plan on using this at every event leading up to the big day!

$3 Wrapping Paper from HomeGoods

We had pictures printed out in frames & on a canvas that we are going to hang up in our new home, placed around the food, photo wall & fire place. It was the perfect touch to help each room feel like it was apart of our engagement celebration.

We also had a photobook of our engagement pictures out on the coffee table for all to view. Additionally, and possibly my favorite, was a banner we had created from our engagement pictures. The prints, banner, canvas & photobook were all created via Walmart!

The food was an absolute feast! With some homemade dishes in addition to some of our favorites from Wegmans, the table was set. There was pulled pork, curry chicken, salads, pastas, a delicious cheese board, wraps/sandwiches, desserts galore & a mimosa bar! I have always wanted a mimosa bar & this surprise was the icing on the cake for me!

We so thoroughly enjoyed our wonderful day hanging out and celebrating our forever with our families. Thank you so much to my godmother & grandparents for this incredibly & magical affair!

The best is yet to come indeed! We cannot wait to continue all of the celebrations to come with family and friends!

From my Hart: Fun & Functional

Did you know I can be a bit of a nerd? Well, now you do!

Nothing gets me more jazzed than a new planner or calendar! I’ve got my planner, which is my trusty go-to. I keep important personal events, as well as daily work duties in there. Without my planner, I’d be lost. I also add the personal items from my planner to my home calendar. Unfortunately, this year the calendar I purchased, didn’t allow me to write on it in the way I would have liked.

Thankfully, while picking out a planner for my boyfriend this weekend, I found some stickers that I could not pass up! These would allow me to mark the dates on our home calendar without scribbling pen all over the place.

The link to buy your own pack of these is right here! I particularly loved the variety and the consistency of the stickers. There were a ton of stickers I would use monthly, instead of just a few. As an example, lets take a look at how I’ve used them.

Just as a small example, here is what was left of May when I bought there. I love the script font for holidays. The “later” tabs, which could be used for tasks, I have adapted to mark the Thursdays in which my fiance works late!

Here is a more packed month! I’ve chosen to use the cupcakes to denote birthdays- the hot dog is to show that we are going to a ball game! Additionally, I’ve noted the holidays, anniversaries and special occasions- like my cousins graduation & a bachelorette weekend!

In addition to more holidays, there are also doctors appointment reminders! It’s not the prettiest idea I’ve had, but I used that big ol’ “work” note is used to denote when my boyfriend will work on his usual day off. That big heart is to show that we have a wedding for one of my dear friends!

I love this sticker pack! I’ve added some of the other stickers to my personal planner, like the hydration tracker! Further, I’ve used the “what’s for dinner” notes to help keep us on tract for the nights we cook for the family!

There are also little motivational stickers I put at the beginning of each week & I’ve use the fancy bullets to help keep my tasks tidy and pretty.

It’s sure not as “OCD” as I would like it, but hey- I’m learning to let go. 🙂 I think this is a great compromise, and super easy addition to keep us on track! If you love being quirky and organized, I suggest you add these stickers to your life!

From my Hart: Christmas in July 2018 Haul

Happy FriYAY y’all! If you are knew to this blog, there is one thing you should know: I love Christmas & QVC!

I look forward to Christmas in July on QVC every year, and I always stock up on essentials & new found finds! Much like last year, read here, I wanted to share my finds for this year’s Christmas in July!

New finds:

Harry Slatkin’s Candles:

I love candles as much as the next girl, but was never really pulled to purchase one of Mr. Slatkin’s until this Gingerbread Village was offered! I collect gingerbread’s for my kitchen at Christmas and this was a keepsake I could not pass up on!

The glazed gingerbread candle comes with this wonderful village, as well as a wonderful plate to hold it all together. The village sits around the candle and the four wicks will illuminate each little window in the village. I cannot wait!

You can find this item here.

Another Harry Slatkin Candle:

I’m eager to see what all of the hype is about with the King of Candles, Mr. Slatkin. Luckily for him, I was enticed to try his candles yet again by the vessel in which the candle is presented!

I really wanted the Santa option, which sold out, but y’all look at this shimmery snowy tree! I’m going to absolutely use this as a cookie jar forever and ever as Mr. Slatkin suggested once I burn the candle down. The scent is trim the tree, with layers of mulled spices, roasted apples, pine, brandied cranberries and blood oranges. YUMMMM!

You can find this item here.

Oldies but goodies

Mrs. Prindable’s Apples:

I would be harassed if I did not buy Mrs. Prindable’s Apples at Christmas. Not only does my family love to eat them, we always have a few in the fridge to give out as gifts!

This year I ordered the variety pack with flavors such as brownie, jumbo chocolate chip, holiday sprinkle and jumbo chocolate chip with pretzel bits! There are different flavor varieties available and even awesome new gift containers that come with some! Just keep them in the fridge and take out to soften up before taking a bite or cutting them to share- guaranteed to be a hit!

You can find this item here.

Kringle Express Gift Bag Set with Tags:

This is another item that I reordered from last year. I purchased it just because, and I cannot express how much time and sanity these have saved! My boyfriend “wraps like a t-rex” as he would say, and these are perfect for him. They are peek proof, and really tastefully done. Screen Shot 2018-07-16 at 6.30.59 PM

I had not realized how many oddly shaped gifts I needed to wrap- these are perfect! There are more jumbo bags in this assortment, and also some non-seasonal designs which can be used year-round!

This item can be found here.

Bethlehem Lights:

I loved these last year as a new purchase, so much so I needed some for myself! We used these particular lights on my Grandparent’s bushes, which you can see here. I grabbed two clear sets and two green / red / clear sets for myself!

Screen Shot 2018-07-16 at 6.41.52 PM

Bethlehem lights are outstanding, the battery boxes make this a set-it and forget-it display for indoor or outdoor use. I love all of the different settings, such as twinkle, that you can choose from & I cannot wait to use these in my own home one day.

You can find this item here.

Awesome QVC Extras:

As always, I used my QCard and received wonderful options such as… easy payments. This breaks up the total costs over a few months to help you make payments. Luckily nothing I ordered was extreme in price, but this is always a wonderful payment option.

Additionally, I will not be charged until the items ship! This means once my Mrs. Prindable’s apples are dipped, they are shipped and then I am charged!

Also, I was able to pick different ship weeks for certain items, so they would arrive just as I needed them! Did I mention I also locked in Christmas in July SALE PRICES? Y’all these prices will go up come the holiday season, lock in the deals while you can!

I love QVC, I love Christmas, I love Christmas in July on QVC! I hope you all enjoyed my haul, and I will be sure to touch base, once the items come rolling in for the season, to let you all know how I enjoy them! Until then, enjoy the rest of your summer!
